What Is Love?

What is Love?

Is it a feeling, a thought, a choice, sacrifice, unconditional, all of the above? I feel that it is important to NOT impose your definition of love on another. I am sure that we all have different definitions and degrees of love as well as different ways of showing our love for another. Communication is important and equally as important is how we communicate with each other, especially in a romantic relationship. We should identify each other’s definitions of certain words. We should have patience and ask when we are not sure, this requires trust and honesty and may, will, take several conversations before clarity is reached. Love is probably the first word a couple should define, what it means to them, how they show it and how they like to receive it. Keep in mind that many people probably do not give a lot of personal thought to this therefor will not be able to identify it when first asked AND as people change so do their thoughts, feelings and definitions. Love is a growing thing; it is not something that you want to have a definite conclusion on but rather something to gain clarity on.

You must be open and able to receive love, and just saying “I love you” does not give you the right or erase anything negative that you say or do.  At first the conversation should and will be a little comfortable. You must trust your partner and allow them to express themselves with out judgment if you want their honest feelings. And as I stated before this will be an ongoing conversation, do not insist on answers, if it gets too tense just try again later. A relationship should be filled with fun, joy and pleasure. Personal growth is an ongoing process to better understand yourself to achieve happiness and success, so it only makes sense that you should put that same kind of time and effort in with your potential last and forever? Love is a beautiful thing and everyone should be blessed enough to receive it and to give it.
